How it works.

Every session covers two modules — a primary we go deep on, and a secondary we review at a higher level.

Dives

Reaction, entry angle, streamline depth.

Stroke

Catch, pull, recovery, rate & distance per stroke.

Turns

Approach, wall contact, push-off angle.

Underwaters

Body line, kick tempo, distance off the wall.

Breakouts

Surfacing depth, first stroke, transition into pace.

  1. 1

    Film

Above-water and underwater cameras capture your primary and secondary modules during a normal training set.

  2. 2

    Analyze

Every clip goes into Onform. Slow-motion overlays, frame-by-frame breakdown, side-by-side with elite reference.

Freestyle — pull mechanics & power balance.

Primary Stroke Secondary Underwaters

50 yards freestyle, 24.11s, 13 left strokes / 12 right. Catch is strong on both sides — left arm pulls about 25% more force than the right, which is showing up as a small hip drop at the start of every right-arm pull. Underwaters are clean off the wall but the breakout kick is one beat late.

EO SwimBETTER — the numbers behind the stroke

EO SwimBETTER dashboard showing stroke rate and power per stroke for each arm across two laps
Force sensors on each wrist track every pull. Orange / red is the left arm, blue is the right. The gap between the bars is exactly the imbalance we point to in the video.
  • 45.57stroke rate (str/min)
  • 3.54distance per stroke (yd)
  • 125.67avg power per stroke (W)
  • 52.65%propulsive efficiency

What we noticed

  1. Left arm pulls harder than right. Avg power per stroke: 145W left vs. 106W right. You can see the hip drop just before the right-arm catch in the side-angle clip.
  2. Catch is good, finish is short on the right. Right hand exits the water near the hip instead of past it — costing about 0.4 yards per length.
  3. Underwater body line is excellent. Three dolphin kicks off the wall, tight streamline. Breakout kick lands one beat after the surface — easy fix.

Drill plan for the next two weeks

  • Single-arm freestyle, right arm only — 4×50 with fins. Focus on full finish past the hip.
  • Catch-up drill — 4×50, exaggerate the right-side hold to balance power.
  • Underwater dolphin off every wall — 8×25, count kicks and time the breakout.
